Strange But True

A lot of filming has taken place in High River over the years, including the 1976 film “Silver Streak”. Many people in High River remember the filming, and the film still has a lot of fans.

An amazing coincidence happened 34 years after the film was released. Here is the story:

In the film there is a scene where the “bad guy” art dealer Roger Deveraux (Patrick McGoohan) is sitting in the dining car burning the incriminating “Rembrandt letters”. The letters would have exposed him as a fraud and ruined him. Fast forward to July 30, 2010 when a fire broke out outside the southwest corner of the former CPR train station (the Museum of the Highwood) and resulted in heavy smoke and water damage to the building. In the film footage outside the window, the train passes the station as the documents are burning. It is the exact location where the fire started in 2010!
